Reality
“I hate war as only a soldier who has lived it can, only as one who has seen its brutality, its futility, its stupidity.”
Dwight D. Eisenhower
My son returned from his temporary duty to his own unit in Iraq today. we chatted on messenger for a short while and he told me he was involved in an incident yesterday with an escaping prisioner. I won't go into details here, but needless to say my son was very pensive. The reality of war really hit home with my tender-hearted boy yesterday. Given a choice, he wouldn't hurt a soul. sometimes, a soldier doesn't have a choice. . This rational doesn't make the brutality of war any easier to stomach. As a father, I pray daily for the safety of my children. Also I pray that they will never do anything that will haunt them throughout their lives. Life is difficult enough without having to carry the burden of emotional scars.
It'll be a joyous day when my son returns to comfort and safety of his country and his family.
