In a sense I hate the way the spanish people re-acted to the terrible train tragedy. Understandably, within their collective spirit resides an angry necessity to react. To do something about the terror and the deaths of their countrymen and women is natural. A furious reaction to the horror of this event bares the soul's necessity. I believe however, that by allowing the terrorists to swing the votes of the national presidential election, it is in effect, a vote for the terrorists. Their vote empowers groups like the ETA and Al-queida and allows them much greater significance than they actually possess. It will encourage further attempts at influencing the political landscapes of European countries through fear tactics. Spain's new government is going to withdraw its troops and support from Iraq. They blame Jose maria Aznar's support of the war , as the cause of the Madrid bombing. Rightly or wrongly, they still are yielding to terrorism, which will eventually breed further terrorism. Nations that are not united against these groups, will be vulnerable to further attacks. History will judge the rightness or wrongness of the terrible war in Iraq. Personally, I hate war and shudder that my country pre-emptivley attacked another country. Having said that, countries must support this fight or lose their basic freedoms.
