Paul called from Kuwait today. He's been recuperating from a high fever and severe bronchitis, while waiting for his flight back to the states. He's been ill for a week, and is taking antibiotics. I think that the stress of finally leaving the war zone of Iraq contributed to his illness. He said that the troop movement is a mess, because of the vast numbers of troops being moved in and out of the war. Typically, homecoming soldiers are given two hours notice before boarding their flights home. Therefore, my son won't know when he's leaving until it happens. It should be very soon though. The emotion must be akin to an indeterminate prison sentence. Human beings can tolerate difficult situations much better, when they know how long they'll last. I wait, I watch, and I maintain my vigilance and prayers.
