I'm ecstatic when good things happen to one of my children. Today my younger son was hired by a staffing firm in Washington D.C. This is a huge break for him and his family. His perserverance in this job hunt makes me very proud. He deserves a break. I'll miss him terribly when he leaves, but I'll always support him, as he's a man, and needs to make decisions based on his best interests. In today's world, young people must go where the iobs are. Relocation has all but eliminated the closeness of extended families during the past forty years. Rapid air travel, computers, and the internet have replaced "Sunday dinner at Grandmas" as a means of family connection. I'll always prefer hugs and face to face chats over microsoft messenger, but I'll take what I can get! I finally have a reason to visit the nation's capitol!
