It’s not "them" against "us". There is no them or us. We are, all of us, connected. I have met Iraqi’s and they are human just like me.
Taking a side is the beginning of war. Taking sides immediately creates an argument. Do not argue. Do not judge. Only be human. We must live within our own heart."...Tony Anthony
The world feels more dangerous than I can ever remember. Suicide bombings in Irag, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Spain, and Afghanistan punctuate the news and daily remind us of the instability worldwide. President Bush is blamed for everything that goes wrong and America is hated in the Arab world. It feels like we're sitting on a pile of explosives waiting to be blown to hell! Terrorism is working. Americans and their counterparts in other countries feel the terror and live in fear. In the USA the fear is not apparent as most go on with their daily routines in a sort of collective denial. There is a tension just below the surface of our free spirit, that expects a catastriophe, a disaster or an act of terrorism to happen at any moment. There's anticipation that the news at first light will show horrific images of mass destruction after a plane has destroyed Hoover Dam, The White House, a nuclear plant, or a thousand other structures and targets that will mortify Americans. Everytime I flick the switch on my television, I expect it to light up with horrifying news. I'm always relieved when ordinary stories appear. America's freedom has eroded since 9/11. I shudder to think that our open culture closes more day-by-day. I weep for my country and fear for her future.
